Jonathan Bailey

Junior Partner, McKinsey & Company / Focusing Capital on the Long Term Initiative

Jonathan Bailey is a Junior Partner in McKinsey & Company’s New York Office. He serves financial institutions including pension plans and development finance institutions with a focus on strategy and sustainability. He is the day-to-day lead of the “Focusing Capital on the Long Term” initiative which McKinsey co-founded with BlackRock and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. FCLT seeks to identify practical tools and approaches for companies and investors to deliver sustainable long-term value.

Jonathan is a co-leader of the North American Institutional Investor practice and has served three of the five largest institutional investors on the continent. Jonathan originally joined the Firm as a Business Analyst in the London office in 2006.

Jonathan holds an MBA (with High Distinction) from Harvard Business School, a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and an MA(Oxon) in history from the University of Oxford.

Beyond McKinsey, Jonathan has worked for Vice President Al Gore’s sustainable investment fund Generation Investment Management, the World Bank Group, the office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and for the Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative.
