Corporate Giving Standard Survey Open! Deadline April 4th!
Senior Research Analyst, Standards and Measurement
Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy
March 28th, 2012-- We know you are busy. Why would we ask you to take time out of your already hectic day to collect and input a significant amount of data into our Corporate Giving Standard (CGS) survey system? Because we know the power of data. We know that it is the only way the corporate giving field will move forward. And we know that it gives a company the level of analysis and benchmarking it needs to improve and grow its corporate giving programs. But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Susan Schlicter, Executive Director, Express Scripts Foundation had to say after she accessed the information in CECP’s Giving in Numbers report and worked one-on-one with our staff to analyze the giving data from Express Scripts Foundation.
The Giving in Numbers report was an invaluable introduction to CECP and an easy entrée to benchmarking our corporate philanthropy. Joining the organization as a subscriber has proven even more valuable; the professional and personal attention to our need to drill down in specific areas by creating custom reports has enabled us to analyze data and examine trends that are most meaningful to us. We’re now in the process of changing our data collection methods to more accurately capture our philanthropic efforts.
We are poised for our biggest sample size yet for the CGS. Earlier this year, we combined forces with The Conference Board (TCB) to promote one survey to capture the full scope and scale of annual contributions by leading global companies. This association will further strengthen the repository of giving data, building upon the more than $85 billion in corporate cash and non-cash giving data collected by CECP since 2001. The 2011 CGS collected data from 184 CECP respondents, including 63 of the top 100 companies in the Fortune 500. Our goal this year is more than 200 respondents and $100 billion in giving. Don’t you want to be a part of that?
Once all the data is in, we will begin the analysis that will become our annual benchmarking report, Giving in Numbers. This is corporate philanthropy’s premier report focusing on giving and is a resource to assess the trends year-over -year in corporate initiatives. It is the only survey of corporate contributions available for public download at no cost.
