Charles HainesProgram Associate, Strategic Investor Initiative

Charles serves the Strategic Investor Initiative (SII) as Program Associate, ensuring the streamlining of day-to-day activities and providing full support to the Advisory Board and partner network. Working closely alongside other CECP teams Charles is also responsible for the effective co-ordination of SII’s research and logistical operations.

Previously, Charles worked in London as an Investment Consultant at Towers Watson (now Willis Towers Watson), providing a range of investment services to some of the largest organizations in the FTSE 100. Charles also worked within the Manager Research division at Towers Watson, specializing in sustainable investments. This role involved researching and rating sustainably managed investment funds on an ESG (environmental, social, governance) and risk/return basis. During his tenure, Charles played a key role in restructuring one of the largest defined contribution pension funds in the UK, worth assets in excess of $2 billion. In 2014, Charles had the fortune of interning as a Strategy Consultant at African Entrepreneur Collective, a social business accelerator in Kigali, Rwanda. Additionally, he has worked in a research capacity during his time at Beaumont Capital, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments into software technology companies.

Having gained an undergraduate degree in Law and Business from the University of Warwick, Charles went on to study a Global MBA at ESSEC Business School in Paris. He pursued a specialisation in finance at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, during his exchange term. Charles is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA Association) and holds the Investment Management Certificate from the CFA Institute.
