Laura advances the impact of CECP’s Global Exchange (GX), a network that unites country-based, mission-driven corporate societal engagement support organizations. While leading the GX, she contributes overall to the Data Insights team at CECP. She works directly with organizations based in other countries, serves affiliates and equips organizations to help companies achieve social results. Laura provides Global Exchange organizations thought leadership , sharing research, offering referrals, and other opportunities. She served as the lead for the Lead on Global Impact at Scale report, focusing on DEI strategies across the world. Laura also leads the knowledge management for fast-track consulting requests from companies and integrates CECP insights into the online 24/7 company resource MyCECP.
Most recently, Laura worked at Accion International, a microfinance NGO in Washington D.C. Through her role as the Latin America Analyst at Accion’s Center for Financial Inclusion, Laura led the work in the region and ensured that financial institutions adhered to consumer protection standards. She conducted ground-breaking evaluation research on the effectiveness of microfinance institutions through this project. Laura first joined CECP in May 2016 as the Marilyn Carlson Nelson Intern. Prior to that, Laura had various roles at organizations in Washington, DC and Bogota, Colombia, focused in international development and philanthropy. Growing up Laura lived in five major Latin American cities, she is passionate about the region´s culture, uniqueness and diversity.
Laura earned a Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a specialization in Economic and and Political Development where she also held an assistantship for the Executive Program’s Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility course. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia.
